World of Elegance

PRO Awnings is happy to offer Rolltec's® exclusive "World of Elegance" fabric collection. These fabrics are 100% solution-dyed marine-grade acrylic fabrics. This designer collection comes in a wide variety of striped and solid patterns to suit any taste and complement any home's style. The "World of Elegance" collection is carefully selected from leading European textile mills, ensuring the highest quality and exclusive designs for the North American market. Acrylic fabrics are engineered to have a much longer lifespan when compared to non-acrylic fabrics such as cotton canvas and polyester (used in low-quality awnings).

The top-quality acrylic fabrics in the "World of Elegance" collection use solution-dyed acrylic fibres. This means the colour is added to the fibres during synthesis while they are still liquid. This technique locks the colour in, ensuring a long life, and allows for easy cleaning. For detailed care and cleaning instructions, please see the fabric warranty.

Rolltec® fabrics are treated with Teflon or Scotchgard fluorocarbon fabric protectors. This creates a barrier between the fabric and the elements. This fabric treatment also strengthens the water-repellency of the fabric and keeps it looking new for longer. Because of this treatment process, dirt will not penetrate the fabric.

Some of the swatches are marked "Lumera." Lumera is a line of premium-quality acrylic fabric. It is woven with newly developed fibres distinguished by a very smooth, dense surface and brilliant colours. Because of this dense surface, the Lumera fabric produces a self-cleaning effect. This prevents dirt from adhering to the material while being able to withstand water pressure. A study based on the Austrian Institute for Ecology, Technics and Innovation showed that up to 50% less dirt adhered to Lumera fabric compared to other awning fabrics. In addition to these great benefits, Lumera fabric also offers extraordinary colour brilliance.

The best benefit of acrylic fabric is that it provides high protection from UV rays. It absorbs, disperses and reflects UV rays, preventing them from streaming through the fabric and making contact with people sitting under them. As the climate changes, so does the amount of UV protection we require. The time we can spend outdoors without sun protection before sun damage occurs varies between 5-10 minutes for fair skin tones and up to approximately 90 minutes for darker skin tones. With the added protection offered by acrylic fabrics, this time increases about 30 times with a light-coloured fabric and up to 80 times with a dark-coloured fabric. The amount of protection against UV rays will also vary depending on the colour of the awning fabric. Light fabric colours can filter approximately 95% of UV rays, and dark fabric colours can filter up to 98%.
